You can’t control the weather, and although your guests know it, you can still have a real “situation” on your hands with a rainout!  So if you need to have a rainout policy in place - and need to control potential abuse - then our rainout command is just the thing for your site.

No matter what the reason, you will have some need to “comp” your guest due to power failure, weather, imposed curfew, security, or other unforeseen event.

It’s easy as 1...2...3 with CORE:

  1. 1.Management declares a “freeze” event.

  2. 2.The active timed wristbands, cards, tickets, receipts at the site that day are frozen until next use. 

  3. 3.Later - when you know the outcome of the event/rain delay you can declare a “comp” the the affected group. 

The CORE system can help you defuse a bad situation while curbing abuse by staff or guests.






Playland, on Long Island Sound in Rye, NY, was faced with both rainouts and repeating power problem with Con-Ed, and needed to define a simple-to-understand policy and a controlled process for rainouts and power outages. The CORE system provides that control.

Rain-Delay, Service Interruption

Business Process

From time to time weather or power interruptions may result in a “rain-out” situation.  CORE has a built-in set of processes to allow you to manage your guest relations.

First of all you may simply need to delay or temporarily halt operations while your site recovers from an interruption.  For guest on a Time Band or other timed play or time based access situation you need to “stop time” so that your guest don’t feel cheated out of their purchase.

Authorized management can simply “stop all time purses” or “freeze time” are through the CORE system’s Issue Park Commands control panel. (see above) Once stopped the time remains frozen until the park is opened and the guest uses the band.  Time resumes when the guest next attempts use their time band or credential after a freeze. 

Generally your operations/safety officer will declare the halting of all rides.  The system manager would generally put all readers in a “Please Wait” or “Off” status so that ride operators can not allow access to a ride or inadvertently take payment.

If your operations/safety officer reopens the park, you simply bring your system back online and the guest’s time will restart with their next use.

Multiple interruptions of power or weather can be handled with the same process and the guest’s timed access is frozen unless used.

When the “stop all time purses” command is issued - the system changes the class of the guest account to “Interrupted”. Management can view the extent of impact of the situation by reviewing the “Class Summary Report”.

When management has determined if they wish to comp the “Interrupted” guest with a future visit, or some other benefit, an authorized system user can invoke a “return visit entitlement” against the class of users “Interrupted” via CORE’s Promo Scheduler. 

Simply select the class “Interrupted” and assign the desired entitlement to the accounts. 

With CORE you can halt time bands and wait to see how the weather or power situation evolves, deciding later what specific benefit might be awarded to the guest.
