Even the grandaddy of them all, Fascination, runs on the CORE system.
First to deploy Midway Manager were all the Busch properties across the US. Accepting both cash and cashless payment has become the business standard for operations. Here the kiosk is placed close to the games and special deals are offered for increased purchases.
One operator can manage this water game with just a S-3 Hand Scanner. Although Cliff’s is totally cashless, CORE’s Midway Manager can handle card, wristband, or cash for payment.
The CORE equipment consists of the Morph reader at each play position, a controller for each game lane, and S-3 hand scanners for prize management at each game for inventory tracking against each operator.
The game operators now have one job - to operate an entertaining game! The payment process is all managed by the CORE system.
All card sales are through CORE’s SS Kiosks that take bills, credit cards and, at this site, Disney’s ‘Key to the Magic’ room key cards.
If you operate midway games, you know what moneymakers they can be! Are your games as profitable as they should be? Or, are your employees eating away at your revenue through theft of cash and prizes?
If you’re like many, you’d like to move to a cashless payment system, but at the same time you’re fearful of losing the impulse play at your midway games. CORE has addressed this issue with its Midway Manager system, the first and only midway games system to track and control both cash and cashless play, and to manage valuable prize inventory.
Currently used at seven major theme parks and four regional amusement parks, CORE Midway Manager has proven its ability to significantly increase profits at midway games. Some parks, like Disney’s California Adventure, and Cliff’s Amusement park have gone completely cashless, while others allow guests the option to play with cash or play card (thereby maintaining the impulse play).
Major Benefits:
•Reduction in theft of cash by game attendants
•Reduction in theft of prizes by game attendants
•Increase in customer available funds as we take credit cards for purchase of game play cards
•Increase in per cap spend through escalating deals (cashless play)
•Real-time revenue reporting - ability to staff games as revenue warrants
•Revenue reporting by price level - ability to adjust game prices to reflect guest preferences
•Increased revenue from credit card game play purchase
•Expanded marketing opportunities with secure coupons, web sales of game play cards, fund-raising and consignment channels
Major Features:
•Real-time tracking of all plays, whether paid with cash or with play card
•Tracking of plays at all game price levels (multi-price level games)
•Game attendant auditing with apron cash control against play counts
•Integration with video security camera systems
•Revenue reporting by hour, by game, by employee, by price level
•Integration with BSR and other games
•Real-time inventory of prizes dispersed
•Automatic prize control (small, medium, large) based on number of paid players
•Prize trade-up control to ensure accurate inventory
New Games of the Boardwalk at
Disney’s California Adventure
BSR’s water race game with CORE’s Morph Reader at each guest play position speeds up play.
At ‘Goofy About Fishing’ the attendant uses a handheld S-3 scanner to both take payment and dispense prizes at this “every-players-a-winner-every-time “ game.
The Kiosks are very easy to use - but Disney cast members greet and assist the guests in their purchase. The cast member never touches the money.
The price scheme is a real, innovative twist on conventional midway prices. Leave it to Disney to figure out how to maximize the guest’s enjoyment and the associated revenues.
First - they reduced the price per game from $3 per play, when cash was being taken, to 250 points to play each game - where a point is a penny.
Second - they made the buy-in a minimum $5.
Third - the guest receives a themed card as a souvenir.

The whole park is cashless including the Midway!
All SeaWorld & Busch’s midways run the CORE Midway Manger
No cash is taken at the games - only the guest play card. Above, the Morph reader provides two price points for the ping pong toss. Below, the operator logs in so that every play is realized against her commission.
All the midway games at Indiana Beach use the multi-price Morph and a tethered hand scanner for play with cards, wristbands, coupons, tickets or even cash.
Throughout Cliff’s the three-button Morph provides the payment station for most midway games. Wired and wireless networks were used where appropriate.
Over 25 Midway games are on the CORE system at Indiana Beach.

During the shoulder portion of the season - some of the parks move to “card only” when staffing all games all the time is no longer economic.
Even in the rain or around a water game, the Morph does just fine on games or attractions.
As with other parks on this page, we used a variety of equipment to meet the needs at Indiana Beach. Here Kristi and Chris Rhodes pick up a S-3 at a midway game.
Cool Cash is used everywhere at Indiana Beach.

Lots of ways to operate the Midway Manager system.
